The Private Cloud_

The Private Cloud is a self-hosting initiative, by Nocturn9x. Our goal is to decrease our reliance on cloud services provided by modern tech companies by creating a private ecosystem of cloud services, proxies, privacy-oriented frontends and such.

Keep in mind that some of these services require a password, to be admin-approved or similiar. Just contact us and we will give you the credentials. This is just to prevent abuse.

• Gitea -> A wonderful self-hosted alternative to GitHub
• Pastebin -> Our self-hosted paste service (Docker of mkaczanowski/pastebin)
• Shortener -> Our self-hosted URL shortener (requires registration, uses kutt)

File sharing

• File.ax -> Self-hosted file sharing/shortener website developed by one of our members

We thought about self-hosting our services at home, but for several reasons we opted for cloud virtual machines.
Some things such as Nextcloud, though, are hosted in our personal homeservers for easy access to cheap storage (mostly hard drives).

Our main server is hosted at SpaceCore. After getting banned and ignored from Hetzner for no reason (they probably don't really like nitter/invidious while being perfectly legal), we moved to a different provider.

Apart from our main server (Centria), the rest of The Private Cloud services are hosted on personal servers of The Private Cloud members.

We had built a custom backup system for our servers. Every day a snapshot of our main servers was encrypted and sent to be stored in 7 different locations, but this system was clunky and we are in the process of improving it. Currently backups are performed only locally for the servers we host ourselves.

We have a Telegram community of people supporting our project and spending time working on it, so if you like our project and want to help, you can ask this. You could also donate using crypto (if you do want to do that, contact us).

• Your usage of the services must be perfectly legal under the French, Russian, Italian and international law.
• Using the services to share the following content:
  • Pornography
  • Malware
  • Copyrighted content without permission from the copyright owner, unless usage is protected by fair use
  • Content that promotes violence
  is forbidden.
• Scamming users through the services is forbidden.
• Sending spam and using the services for hacking or other illicit activities is forbidden.

We will not tolerate any abuse.
By using the services you agree to the above rules. If you do not agree, please do not use the services. If we find any violation, we will ban your account/IP and ,depending on the severity of the violation, we may also report you to the relevant authorities. These rules are subject to change, and changes will be reported here. If you need some help understanding these rules or need clarification, please contact us.

With that said, we really care about your rights abd will review any report of abusive activity carefully case by case. After all, the project started when Nocturn9x got banned from Github after commenting on the Faker.js drama.
